Before You Go

Planning on staying at a conference hotel, like the Hyatt Regency Seattle, offers opportunities to bump into colleagues & meet up between conference sessions. Visit the Hotel & Travel page for more information.

Doing a little research before arriving in Seattle can make it easier to connect with speakers and attendees during the conference. Download the conference app to find the speaker schedule and a list of attendees.

Preparing your schedule in advance makes it easier to share priorities with attendees you meet and make connections over shared interests and activities.

Creating and practicing an elevator pitch will help you feel comfortable introducing yourself and sharing professional details when you meet someone for the first time.

While at the Conference

Attend breaks, receptions, and meals for a great opportunity to meet new people.

Make introductions to the people around you; if you’re in the same workshop, you probably already have something in common!

Connect with your peers – while business cards never hurt, using the conference app to exchange information makes it less likely for email addresses to get lost.

Look around for someone standing alone and introduce yourself; when standing in a group, be sure to leave a space open for others to join.
