FY 2028 Call for Council Nominations

Individuals elected to councils are expected to:

• Be able to serve a three-year term.
• Abide by "Roles, Responsibilities, and Expectations for AAIM Volunteer Leaders”
• Register for and attend Alliance conferences
• Attend in person council meetings outside conference; if scheduled, travel and housing will be covered
• Attend council meeting held in conjunction with APM Winter Meeting or Academic Internal Medicine Week (two hour block during conference; no reimbursement)
• Actively participate in conference calls (quarterly for all except CDIM and MPPDA, which are monthly; 60 minutes each for all except APDIM, which are 90 minutes)
• Step down from any active committee positions by June 30, 2027, to allow others the opportunity to serve
• Advocate for the Alliance, including representing AAIM opinions to other organizations, requesting payment of dues from nonpaying members, and encouraging members to register for conferences
• Understand the decisions and plans of the council are subject to approval and resourcing by the AAIM Board of Directors

You must be a current FY 2027 member to nominate yourself to serve on council.

Officer candidacy may be submitted by sending a letter of self-nomination to governance@im.org. Excepting MPPDA, only individuals who have served on the respective council in the past five years are eligible for nomination for council officer positions.

Starting in FY 2028, president-elects will serve on the AAIM Advisory Group. The AAIM Advisory Group will provide advice, guidance, expertise, and insight to the board of directors on major initiatives and matters of strategic importance to the Alliance. They will meet virtually four times per year and ad hoc as needed, the group will oversee development and collaboration related to the annual Alliance work plans, will maintain bi-directional communication with the board, councils, and members, will facilitate communication across councils, and will coordinate activities among councils to further AAIM’s strategic plan objectives.
