Foundations of Academic IM for Education Administrators

January 13, 1:00 PM - April 21, 2027, 3:00 PM | Course

Course Description

Foundations of Academic Internal Medicine for Education Administrators (FAIM-EA) is designed for new administrators of programs in UME or GME. It is developed and taught by an AAIM committee of experienced administrators.

The 13-week course includes four two-hour live virtual sessions in which you will have the opportunity to interact with leaders and peers in the field of academic medicine. The live format is not about listening to lectures, but allows for social learning through panels designed to enable you to learn from each other's experiences, stories and suggestions. Attendance at the live Zoom sessions is highly encouraged but not required. All live sessions will be recorded and available in the digital learning center for course participants the week after the event.

The Digital Learning Center will also host weekly assignments and enable asynchronous interaction with fellow students and expert administrators on weekly topics. These assignments can include reading, interactive exercises, and videos. The asynchronous required workload will not exceed 2 hours per week.

    • To earn a course certificate, you must post your answer and comment on one fellow participant’s answer for at least 4 of 9 discussion forum questions.

Participants are highly encouraged to attend these events and participate in the discussion. For anyone unable to attend or who want to review the event, recordings will be available within the live event page for on-demand viewing. For participants watching the recording, the video must be watched to the very end to receive credit.
