AIMW25 Community Initiative: Covenant House

AIMW Community Initiative

Giving back to the communities hosting Academic Internal Medicine Week is a priority and, each year, a new local nonprofit will benefit. To lead by example, the Alliance has made a donation to our 2025 host city organization. We hope you'll join us in our support of Covenant House.

Covenant House, located in New Orleans, LA, is the largest charity in North and Central America providing immediate and long-term support for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking. As many as 4.2 million young people will experience a period of homelessness this year in the U.S. alone. By meeting immediate needs, such as food and shelter, as well as offering long-term support programs, Covenant House provides struggling youth the tools needed to become independent members of the community.

Behind the scenes, a donation to Covenant House supports their notable research projects. This includes the largest-ever multi-city study on the intersection of human trafficking and youth homelessness, as well as a study examining the experiences of young people navigating both homelessness and the labor market.

How You Can Help

Support the Covenant House mission by making a donation or visiting their website. You may select a one-time donation or opt to give monthly. Your generous gift ensures Covenant House can continue providing temporary shelter, housing, and meals for more than 57,000 house-insecure youth per year.

Please make your donation by Friday, April 11, 2025, to be included in the AIMW25 initiative.
