Sherine Salib, MD, MRCP, FACP, and Lisa L. Willett, MD, MACM, FACP have been awarded the 2025 Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award. This award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to medical education, research, clinical care, and community engagement, strengthening the academic healthcare workforce. 

Paul E. Klotman, MD announced his retirement from the position of President, CEO, and Executive Dean of Baylor College of Medicine after 15 years of outstanding leadership. Dr. Klotman's retirement becomes effective June 30, 2026.

Emilia J. Benjamin, MD, ScM, FACC, FAHA, has been awarded the 2025 Eugene Braunwald Academic Mentorship Award, honoring those teaching and mentoring the next generation of faculty researchers, educators and health care professionals. Recipients of the award are recognized for their lasting impact on cardiovascular care and research through their extensive mentoring of residents and fellows.

Donald Landry, MD, PhD, has been named interim president of the University of Florida. Dr. Landry is chair emeritus of Columbia University’s Department of Medicine. His term is expected to begin Sept. 1.  

Eric J. Warm, MD has been appointed Vice President for Research Strategy, effective September 1, 2025. Dr. Warm is the Richard W. & Sue P. Vilter Professor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he has also served as director of the Categorical Internal Medicine Residency since 2009.

Supratik Rayamajhi, MD, has been appointed interim dean at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, effective Oct. 1. Dr. Rayamajhi currently serves as associate dean for Clinical Affairs and as director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the medical school.

Mitchell Rosner, MD, has been named executive vice president and CEO of UVA Health. A faculty member at University of Virginia School of Medicine, Dr. Rosner has most recently served as interim executive vice president of Health Affairs for the health system and previously served as chair of the school’s Department of Medicine.

Catherine Apaloo, MD - has been appointed Intealth™’s first Senior Vice President and Chief IMG Experience Officer, a newly created executive leadership role.

Mark Dransfield, MD - has been named chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine, effective Sept. 1.

Thomas Wang, MD - a nationally recognized physician-scientist and academic leader, has been appointed the next dean of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, effective Sept. 15, 2025. He will also hold the title of professor with tenure in the Department of Internal Medicine.

Roberto Machado, MD - has been appointed the new University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) Chair of the Department of Medicine, the largest department at UMSOM with more than 400 full-time faculty members and 12 divisions. He will also serve as the Physician-In-Chief at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

 Albert Einstein College of Medicine has appointed Amanda Raff, MD, as the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education beginning on July 1, 2025.

As of May 25, 2025, Eric Epstein, MD, has been named Ambulatory Medical Director and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations of the Department of Medicine at Dartmouth Health’s Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. 

Eric Ayers, MD, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, has been named the Interim Chair for the Wayne State University Department of Pediatrics.

Sarah H. Sofka, MD, FACPhas been named the Associate Dean and ACGME Designated Institution Official for the West Virginia University School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education program.

Alexandra Schoenberber, MD, Msed, is a 2025 recipient of the David C. Leach Award, recognizing residents and fellows who have fostered innovation and improvement in their programs, advanced humanism in medicine, and increased efficiency and emphasis on educational outcomes.

Michelle Thompson, MD, is a 2025 recipient of the Parker J. Palmer Courage to Lead Award, recognizing DIOs who have demonstrated strong leadership and astute resource management and encouraged innovation and improvement in programs and their Sponsoring Institutions.

David Alton Lindholm, MD, FACP, FIDSA, named Air Force District of Washington Academic Physician of the Year for 2024 for Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine.

Lisa K. Moores, MD, FCCP, MACP, elected to the board of ACCPCHEST as President-Designate. Dr. Moores will assume the role of President of CHEST in 2027.

  • Dr. Sylk Sotto, MBA, MPS, EdD, has been appointed Associate Vice Chancellor for faculty development and inclusive excellence at the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences.  Dr. Sotto serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development, and Vice Chair for Diversity, Health Equity, and Inclusion at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Hubbard Award, which recognizes significant contributions in the field of medical education research and assessment.

APM President Anne B. Curtis, MD, SUNY Distinguished Professor of Medicine in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at University at Buffalo, has been chosen to receive the 2024 Dr. Carolyn McCue Award for Woman Cardiologist of the Year.
