The Past as a Predictor:  Casting the Post-SCOTUS Decision on the Future of Healthcare and Justice

This webinar seeks to breakdown the impact of the SCOTUS decision on efforts to diversify the health and legal education institutions that serve as critical pathways to meet the national needs to advance health and justice equity and continuing shortages in the workforce. The session will engage leaders at Law and Health Professions schools, chairs and deans as well as individuals engaged in the recruitment, support and education of students, to reflect on strategies to maintain diversity goals under the constraints of the SCOTUS decision.

  • Participants will:
    • Examine the impact of the decision on diversity on recruitment/enrollment and equity in the health and legal profession including the future face of the workforce,
    • Appraise the potential for a lack of culturally appropriate health and legal services for underserved and under resourced communities,
    • Deliberate on the strategies to mitigate the impact of the SCOTUS decision.
  • Learning Outcomes:
    • Develop a richer understanding of the potential long-term impact of the SCOTUS decision,
    • Value the importance of engagement across campus to appraise current policies and practices,
    • Ideate innovative legally permissible initiatives and the implementation for amelioration.
